After returning from a wonderful experience, singing the Marschallin´s wise words in Der Rosenkavalier (directed by Stephen Lawless) in the magnificent Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, getting ready – as Ellen Orford – to help Peter Grimes in the struggle of the individual against the masses. Peter Grimes in Bonn stars internationally-acclaimed tenor José Cura in the title role. I can hardly wait to hear him sing ‘Now the Great Bear and Pleiades . . .’

South African Soprano, Johanni van Oostrum came to the attention of the international opera scene when, at short notice, she successfully took over the role of Marschallin in Richard Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle at the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. She has since come to prominence singing leading soprano roles by Mozart, Wagner and Strauss. More..
